Do you offer loaner vehicles?

Yes we do. However, many services can be completed on a 'waiting' basis and no loaner is needed. But, should you need one, we will provide you with a current model Acura to drive while yours is here. To be sure that one is available for you, make sure that you request it when you are setting up your reservation. And, don't forget to bring your valid driver's license and current insurance information.

How do I get my Acura recall fixed?

Simply call and ask to speak with our Service Department. A service representative will obtain your VIN (vehicle identification number) from you. We will look up the recall(s), order necessary parts if needed, and schedule a convenient time for you to bring the vehicle in. Recalls are done at no cost to you, and if needed we can provide a free loaner vehicle while we service your vehicle. Learn more here: https://owners.acura.com/service-maintenance/recalls

How does the Maintenance Minder in my Acura Work?

Oil is very predictable as to how it will break down. Your vehicle can accurately calculate your oil life based off of how you drive, and the conditions you drive in. When your oil life reaches 15%, a maintenance code will display and a "Service due soon" message will appear. At 5% oil life, the message will change to "Service due now" and if it reaches 0% it will show "Service past due". The Maintenance Minder will indicate specifically what services are required. Here is a link to the Acura maintenance codes and what they mean.

I'm leasing my vehicle. Why should I worry about servicing my Acura?

There are two very good reasons why you should maintain your vehicle according to the schedule in your Owner's Manual.

Regularly maintaining your car is the best way to protect your investment. Proper maintenance is essential to your safety and the safety of your passengers. It will also reward you with more economical, trouble-free driving and help reduce air pollution.

Vehicle condition is evaluated at the end of the lease period and you will be charged for abnormal conditions that reduce the value of the vehicle. This includes mechanical condition.

What are the advantages of having factory certified technicians maintain my vehicle?

Our Acura service department offers the best care there is for your vehicle. Our Acura technicians have spent many hours studying and training on proper Acura maintenance and repair procedures. Also, most Acura technicians have many years of experience servicing older models. Virtually no one is more qualified to service your Acura than our Acura-trained and ASE Certified technicians here in our service department. What's more, we invest in many special tools unique to your vehicle - so you can be assured that we have the right tools and information to properly service your vehicle.

What is the difference between OEM parts and other parts?

OEM parts are the exact same part that was manufactured for your vehicle. The fit and finish is the same as when the vehicle was new. They have been approved by the manufacturer for use on your vehicle, and are the only parts recommended for installation on your Acura. Parts that are not OEM are often reverse engineered, and do not meet the same testing, specifications, fit, or finish as the OEM parts. In addition, they often do not operate the same as the OEM part that was designed for your Acura.

How often do I need to change my oil?

Refer to your Owner's Manual for the recommended service intervals. Separate maintenance schedules are listed for "normal service" and "severe service." Read the description of severe service carefully. Most vehicles will fall under the normal service category. Note that the service intervals are listed by time in addition to distance. Your oil should be changed at whichever interval, time or distance, occurs first. There is absolutely no benefit in changing your oil more frequently than recommended in your Owner's Manual. This will only increase your cost of ownership, and create an unnecessary burden upon the environment by increasing the amount of disposed oil. Do not exceed the recommended maintenance interval. Oil eventually deteriorates and loses its ability to protect your engine, due to heat, friction, and exposure to exhaust components. Engine oil contains special additives to enhance the oil's performance, and these additives are also broken down or consumed with distance and time. Engine damage can occur if the proper maintenance schedule is not followed

What is the proper air pressure for my tires?

The proper tire inflation can be found on the label inside the driver's door jamb.

How often do I need to rotate my tires?

Tire rotation should be done at regular intervals as indicated by your maintenance minder system or by the tire manufacturer. When rotated regularly, tire life is prolonged, your vehicle maintains optimal handling with more even tire wear, and road noise caused by premature or irregular wear is avoided.

What is the difference between buying tires at a dealership as compared to a big box store?

Big box stores rarely, if ever, sell original equipment tires. The tires they sell may have the same name, but the tire model numbers are typically different. They may carry some of the same characteristics as the OE tires, but because of the number of variable design characteristics they may perform differently, potentially altering the ride comfort, interior noise, wear rate, fuel efficiency, steering feel, snow traction, and wet and dry handling and braking performance that you may be accustomed to. The tires sold by us were developed by Acura engineers who work closely with the original equipment tire manufacturer to develop a tire that optimizes all the performance attributes of your vehicle, and are the only tires Acura recommends for your vehicle. In addition, every tire we sell carries 24 months of road hazard warranty - see your advisor for specific road hazard terms and conditions.

Why is it a good idea to replace the cabin air filter in my vehicle regularly?

The cabin filter (also called a dust and pollen filter) helps keep pollen, dust, and airborne contaminants out of your vehicle's passenger cabin. It filters both incoming and recirculated air. If ignored, it can reduce air conditioner and heater air flow and performance, increase the amount of airborne contaminants in the passenger cabin, and may lead to mold growth and musty odors.

What does the engine air filter do? How do I know when it needs to be replaced?

Engines, like people, need to breathe clean air to stay fit. The engine air filter removes dust and contaminants from incoming air before they can enter the engine. If ignored, the engine won't get a free flow of air, reducing engine performance and increase fuel consumption. Regular inspections of the engine air filter are necessary for proper replacement intervals.

How often do I need to change the timing belt on my Acura?

Depending on the model year of the vehicle, it is typically between 60,000 and 90,000 miles. If your vehicle has a timing chain, instead of a timing belt, replacement of the timing chain is not required. Refer to the Scheduled Maintenance section of the appropriate owner's manual for specific information.
